Hegemon Wiki Settings reference

System Integration

Every button in the System Integration panel: default launcher, companion app, Watch Next, notification access and the crash test.

Settings → App Settings → System Integration

The panel is titled System Configuration. Its text reads Use the buttons below to configure Hegemon as the default launcher for Android TV. Each button opens a system or helper screen. None of them is a switch.

Set Hegemon as default TV launcher#

  • What it does: asks Android to make Hegemon your home app. On Android 10 and newer, the system shows its own dialog. Then it also opens the TV's home app settings, and falls back to Android's default-apps settings if that screen does not exist.
  • The panel's note: this method works on older Android versions (below 10). If it has no effect, use the next step and choose Hegemon yourself in the system settings.
  • There is no status line. The panel does not tell you whether Hegemon is already the default.

Companion App#

  • What it does: shows a QR code with a download link for a small helper app. The panel describes it as the safest and most robust method, and says that you do not need to enable Hegemon Launcher in accessibility settings if you use it.
  • Scan the code with your phone to get the link.

Manage Watch Next permissions#

  • What it does: for the Android TV Watch Next row, Hegemon needs access to TV channel listings. The button asks for that permission, then opens the matching screen.
  • If you skip it: the system's Watch Next row stays empty. Everything inside Hegemon still works.

Grant notification access#

  • What it does: opens Android's notification-access settings, where you allow Hegemon.
  • What it enables: showing your TV's notifications in Hegemon, and Global Scrobble.
  • It is optional and you can turn it off there at any time.

Crash Monitor Test#

A red button under a yellow heading at the bottom of the panel. It deliberately crashes the app to test the crash monitor: after the crash a red overlay with details appears for about 20 seconds, and the idea is to photograph it and send it to the developer.

Do not press it by accident

It exists for troubleshooting. Pressing it closes the app immediately.
