Media serversBeta
Every option in the Media servers panel: the three server cards and each step of connecting, testing and removing a server.
Beta
This feature is in beta and may change.
Settings → App Settings → Media servers
Connect a library you keep on your own server and Hegemon can show what was recently added.
The main screen#
Three cards, one each for Jellyfin, Plex and Emby. Each shows the logo, the name and a status: Connected as … with a check mark, or Not connected.
Select a card:
- Not connected: starts the connection steps below.
- Connected: opens its details, with Test connection and Remove.
Jellyfin and Emby#
The text reads Enter your server details. The password is only used to sign in and is not stored.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Address | For example 192.168.1.50:8096 |
| Username | Your server username |
| Password | Used once to sign in |
Choose Connect. You see Connecting…, then Connected to …. Servers found on your local network are listed on this screen under Found on your network; select one to fill in its address.
Plex#
- Choose Plex. A code appears and the screen says Waiting for confirmation….
- On your phone or computer open plex.tv/link and enter the code.
- If your account has servers you have not added yet, the screen says Select the Plex servers to add. Every server has a box: select it to tick or untick it. A server that someone else shared with you says shared by and the name of its owner. Choose Add selected, or Cancel. When only one new server is found, it is added straight away.
If the code expires you see The code expired. Try again. If the account has no servers, No Plex servers were found on this account.
Your Plex account#
After you sign in with plex.tv, the Plex card opens the account screen instead of a single server. It shows your account name and the servers you added from it, and these buttons:
- Add servers: lists the servers of your account that you have not added yet, so you can pick more.
- Rescan servers: checks your account now. The screen says New servers found: N, or No new servers. A server whose owner withdrew your access is marked access revoked.
- Disconnect account: asks Disconnect this account and remove its servers? If you confirm, the account and its servers are removed from Hegemon only.
- OK: goes back.
If your plex.tv sign-in expires, the screen says Plex sign-in expired. Connect again. and shows a Connect button.
New servers#
Hegemon also checks your Plex account about once a day. When a new server appears, you get a notification, once for each server, and the Plex card shows New servers found: N. Hegemon never adds a server by itself: open Settings → Media servers and use Add servers. See Notifications.
Enter manually. Prefer not to use a plex.tv account? Choose Enter manually, then type the server address (for example 192.168.1.50:32400) and its token. Use this only if you do not want to sign in with plex.tv.
Details of a connected server#
- Test connection: checks that the server answers. You see Connection OK. Libraries: ….
- Remove: asks for confirmation. It removes the server from Hegemon only, and nothing changes on the server.
On the home screen#
Add a row in Rows to show Recently added titles from a server and its library. You can also browse the whole library in the Citadel tab.
Connection rules#
- Plain HTTP works only on your local network. Anything else needs an
https://address. - The server's HTTPS certificate must be trusted.
- The TV must be on the same network as a local server.
