Friends
Every option in the Friends panel: your name, adding a friend, managing friends and sending recommendations.

Turn on sync first
Friends use the same private connection as device sync. If Sync between my devices is off, the panel tells you to turn it on in Devices & sync.
The main screen#

If you have none, you see No friends yet.
Add a friend#
You show the PIN
- Choose Add a friend (show PIN). Give the PIN to your friend, in person or by message. It lasts 10 minutes and works once.
- When they join, a screen says “name” wants to be your friend and shows a confirmation code.
- Check that the code is identical on both screens, then choose Approve or Deny.
You enter the PIN
- Choose Join a friend (enter PIN) and type it on the keypad.
- Wait on Connecting… until a code appears. Compare it with your friend's screen.
- A final screen asks Add “name” as a friend? Choose Add friend.
If another friend already has the same name, Hegemon warns you and shows fingerprints so you can tell whether it is a different person.
Manage a friend#
Select a friend to open their actions:

| Rename | Sets your name for this friend. If it differs from the name they use, the panel notes what they call themselves |
| Block / Unblock | Stops or restores what you receive from them |
| Remove friend | Deletes them from your list |
Messages you may see#
The request was declined, The other person cancelled, The PIN did not match, The PIN expired and Too many wrong attempts. The PIN was cancelled work as in Devices & sync.
Send and receive recommendations#
Send. Long-press OK on a title and choose Send to…, then pick a friend or a room.

You can send 20 recommendations a day. Sending the same title again too soon is refused.
Receive. Open the Echo tab:
- New from friends and From … list what your friends sent.
- Sent by me shows your own, with how many were seen.
Recommendations also appear as a Recommended by friends row and as Friends' picks in the Spotlight.
