Make Hegemon your home screen
How to set Hegemon as the default launcher, using the in-app button, the system settings or the companion app.
Hegemon works as an ordinary app, but it is at its best as your default home screen, so the Home button on the remote opens it.
Where to find it#
Settings (the gear) → App Settings → System Integration. The panel is titled System Configuration.
No status line
The panel does not say whether Hegemon is already your default launcher. If you press the Home button and Hegemon opens, you are done.
The three ways#
1. Set Hegemon as default TV launcher#
Press the button. What happens depends on your Android version:
- Android 10 and newer: the system shows its own dialog asking to make Hegemon the home app. Confirm it.
- Then, or on older versions: Hegemon opens the TV's home app settings. If your TV has no such screen, it opens Android's default apps settings, and as a last resort the main settings.
The panel's own note says this method works on older Android versions (below 10). If it had no effect, go on to the next step and choose Hegemon yourself in the system settings it opened.
2. The system settings#
Look for an item named Home app, Default apps or similar. The name differs by TV brand. Choose Hegemon Launcher.
3. Companion App#
A small helper app. Press Companion App and a QR code appears with a download link. Scan it with your phone, install the helper and follow its steps. The panel describes it as the safest and most robust method.
If the system keeps going back to its own home screen#
Hegemon stays installed as a normal app, so you can open it from the apps row at any time. Try the companion app if you want the Home button to open Hegemon.
